Presidio is seeking a seasoned Solutions Architect to support our expanding Buffalo, New York team.   In this role you will serve as trusted advisor to senior decision makers, by recommending, designing and assisting in implementing advanced technology solutions.   The ideal candidate will possess a strong track record in both sales and engineering roles, and will demonstrate the ability to unite multiple constituencies in support of our customers’ business outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
As a Solutions Architect supporting our core networking practice, you will design solutions that include the following technologies (among others):
  • Routing/Switching – Cisco Catalyst and Nexus primarily, but HP, Dell, and Juniper experience a plus.
  • Software Defined WAN (SDWAN) – Cisco/Viptela and VMWare/Velocloud primarily, others desirable.
  • Software Defined Networking (SDN) – Cisco ACI and VMWare NSX primarily, others desirable.
  • Security – Cisco network access control (ISE), Firepower NGFW, Umbrella endpoint security, and Palo Alto NGFW.   Other security hardware/software products a plus.
  • Wireless – Cisco and Meraki indoor wireless.   Cisco outdoor wireless and Aruba experience desirable.
  • Content Delivery – F5 load balancing and related security features.       Citrix Netscaler familiarity also a plus.
  • Public Cloud – Connectivity/security to and within various public cloud environments, to include AWS and Azure, with Google and others a plus.
  • Adjacent technology areas - In addition to the core networking technologies listed above, experience with data center networking and virtualization, as well as voice, video and collaboration technologies are highly desirable.
As an integral part of a multi-faceted sales and engineering team, our Solutions Architects must demonstrate a track record of success in:
  • Forging cooperative, symbiotic working relationships with sales and engineering teams
  • Responding promptly, completely and proactively to often fast-paced, and in some cases incompletely-defined customer needs
  • Developing campaigns and leading customer education activities – in one-on-one and sometimes group settings
  • Balancing sometimes overlapping or competing technical solutions, to provide an agnostic view of the technology landscape
  • Conducting demonstrations, proofs-of-concept and/or bake-offs of technology solutions
  • Assisting with conduct, interpretation and presentation of a variety of network assessments, as well as developing new methodologies to adapt to evolving customer needs
  • Mentoring/educating account managers, engineers, project managers, and on-site resident engineers on the technology solutions that we recommend
  • Developing proposal documents, advocacy briefings, and high-quality written deliverables in both pre-sales and post-sale settings
  • Self-study and personal development, to learn new technologies and integrate unfamiliar solutions.
Required Skills
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related technology field, or demonstrably equivalent academic background
  • Equivalent experience and/or military experience
  • 10+ years of progressive experience, with roles in both sales and engineering
  • Cisco CCIE highly desirable.  CCNP preferred.   Will consider relevant practical experience and/or non-Cisco certifications as partial substitute for these credentials
  • Practical experience in a pre-sales capacity with a solutions integrator (value added reseller), preferably one that specializes in Cisco solutions.
