The Data Center Practice Director is a hands-on, technically-skilled, experienced professional who is responsible for leading and architecting the data center solutions we deliver. The candidate needs to possess expertise in current data center infrastructure technologies as well as be a thought leader on emerging technologies. The Practice Director is expected to refine Presidio’s best practices to adapt to technology changes and implementation challenges as they occur.
 
The Data Center Practice Director leads a team of data center infrastructure and software engineers, providing design leadership, project oversight, and escalation support for complex data center and software solutions.
   
Key Responsibilities
 
  • Act as Presidio’s most senior technical professional in the Territory in the areas of Data Center and Software
  • Provide Hands-on management of a team of delivery engineers providing complex storage, compute, virtualization, Hyperconverged Infrastructure, and Software solutions to the New England market
  • Develop and enforce engineering best practices
  • Act as primary interface to our data center and software solution partners
  • Review proposals for technical accuracy and cost/schedule estimating accuracy
  • Assist the Sales teams as required to promote data center and software technology
  • Assist Senior leadership with technical vision and with execution of strategy within the territory
  • Update Senior leadership on project progress and team performance
  • Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction, meeting with customer as required to discuss technology, project progress, support initiatives, etc.
  • Ensure that the team is up to date on strategic technologies and create an environment that inspires individuals to learn and advance technically and professionally
  • Communicating with team members regularly regarding workload, success criteria, project work product, and career path
  • Participating in the interviewing and hiring process of new engineers
  • Working closely with project management team to ensure engagements finish on time and within scope
Required Skills
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience and/or military experience
  • Candidates must be well versed in data center infrastructure and software solutions including:
    • Virtualization (VMware vsphere)
    • Storage, Compute, and Backup technologies (EMC, Pure)
    • Converged and Hyper-Converged Infrastructure (Nutanix, EMC)
    • End User Computing (Citrix and VMware)
    • Microsoft technologies (Exchange, O365, Active Directory)
    • Cloud Technologies (Azure, AWS)
    • Candidate must have experience leading high performance teams, either as a manager, technical lead, or similar leadership role
  • Passion about our profession and a positive, customer-focused attitude
  • Extensive experience and expertise regarding delivery of Data Center and Software technology solutions including design, implementation, and support
  • Outstanding documentation skills including technical design documents, “as-built” documents, logical diagrams, and solution descriptions
  • Ability to lead a team and inspire high performance
  • A confident personality that inspires trust in our customers and our team
