Reporting to the Director of Credit and Collections, this position will manage and direct the day to day operations of the Credit & Collections teams, be the escalation point for both credit and collection issues, reinforce a customer service culture and have a demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships with Sales and communicate with all levels of management both internally and externally.
 
Key Responsibilities
 
  • Ensure credit and collections policies are monitored and SOX compliant to maintain an effective internal control environment while mitigating loss risk.
  • Be the escalation point for Credit and Collection staff, communicating with all levels of management both internally and externally.
  • Ensure credit and collection processes have standard operating procedures documented and are kept up to date.
  • Coordinate training to ensure policies and processes are being followed consistently.
  • Drive innovation by continually assessing work flow processes, implementing improvements that effectuate positive change.
  • Monitor performance, provide feedback and suggest development opportunities for employees.
  • Empower staff to develop creative solutions and process improvements.
  • Perform reporting for credit and collection key metrics to ensure efficiencies and targets are met.
  • Develop and maintain close working relationships with Sales Reps and Management.
  • Benchmark processes against best in class and lead team to improve performance.
 
Credit
 
  • Manage the activity of Bectran, the credit analysis tool, ensuring credit lines are established in accordance with policy, reviewing and monitoring credit lines to ensure customer exposure does not exceed credit lines.
  • Oversee and ensure sound credit decisions company-wide, orders are credit approved timely and are within the customers’ credit lines and SLAs are met.
  • Ensure appropriate systems, staff, and procedures are in place to analyze and evaluate credit risk and periodically analyze the results of our credit scoring criteria to ensure we are managing our risk appropriately.
 
Collection
  • Monitor the collection of overdue accounts, optimize cash collections, and efficiently manage large accounts and problem accounts.
  • Provide direction to Collection Supervisors to ensure performance targets are met.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with multiple departments to resolve disputed invoices.
  • Direct Collection Supervisors in their daily tasks of coaching and collection training, negotiation skills, problem solving strategies, reconciliations of account discrepancies.
Required Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree preferably in Business, Finance or Accounting 
  • Equivalent experience and/or military experience
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of management level experience
    • experience with at least 5-10 employees reporting to them
  • Previous experience with commercial credit and collections 
  • Proven analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast paced, high energy environment
  • Independent decision making skills
  • Strong Microsoft Office Skills for analytics and presentations
  • Knowledge of Great Plains or Bectran preferred, but not required
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, written and verbal skills
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to work through complex problems and implement effective solutions
